St Ursula’s College offers a range of choirs to extend and enrich students vocally. Choirs at the College perform a variety of repertoire including classical music, music theatre, popular music and sacred music. All singers in the College are encouraged to actively participate in these groups as we believe that ensemble singing is a valuable part of a student’s overall musical and social development.
Junior Choir The Junior Choir is open to any student in years 7 & 8. It is offered to junior students as an opportunity to gain experience and skills in correct vocal technique and vocal health prior to joining the College Senior Choir. Repertoire selected is specifically suited to the needs and interests of junior students. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday during lunchtime in the music rooms.
Senior Choir The Senior Choir is open to students from years 9 to 12 who are interested in singing. The group caters for experienced singers who wish to develop their singing and aural skills further as well as students who wish to experience choral singing for the first time. The Senior Choir rehearses every Thursday during lunchtime in the music rooms. Vocal Ensembles Small vocal ensembles are open to a select number of advanced and highly committed singers in both years 7 – 8 and years 9 – 12. These small ensembles are through audition only and aim to tackle more challenging pieces with independent individual parts. There are many opportunities for these students to perform such as College assemblies, Masses, Concerts and external events. | |
