Night Patrol is an important service provided by the St Vincent de Paul Society that seeks to 'deepen our faith in Christ'. They work together with school and parish communities to build right relationships with the needy, the homeless and the marginalised. Our College Community supports this mobile outreach service by engaging with the homeless while they eat the prepared food and a warm cup of coffee/tea. The girls get an opportunity to ‘have a chat, share stories’ and experience albeit for a short time life on the streets of central Sydney. Due to the large interest by our College community, staff, students and parents are placed into teams, on a roster. Those participating in Night Patrol are trained and must be over 16 years. Over the last six years over 300 members of St Ursula’s community have volunteered for Night Patrol. Sandwiches are prepared at lunch time on the day by the Youth Vinnies Social Justice Group at the College. As many as 70 students, enthusiastically share in this ministry once a month. All students who participate in the making of the sandwiches are from all year groups 7-12 and is also a great opportunity for our junior students to engage with students from the senior year groups and to feel that they are contributing to the wider community in a real and tangible way. | |
