St Ursula’s College is bound by traditions and symbols that promote the Ursuline philosophy of education which respects the dignity of every person. It is a place where teachers and students show genuine care and interest in each other, living out St Angela Merici’s vision.

"I ask you to take all your students into account,

having each and every one deeply fixed in your hearts and minds,

and not just their names, but their background and character

and everything about them.

This will not be difficult if you surround them with real love."

                                                                                        Angela Merici

The Pastoral Care structure is modelled on a participatory style of caring that creates a harmonious climate built on the restorative justice principles of reconciliation, compassion and love. It is characterised by a network of relationships that are underpinned by Gospel values and where affirmation and celebration play a large part in shaping the special character and ethos of the College.

The Pastoral Care program at the College is designed to help students to value themselves and experience well being. It revolves around spiritual, academic and social activities and provides support and assistance as the students work through challenging and enriching experiences. The program includes activities to strengthen self esteem, social relationships, vocational awareness, health and safety. It also aims to respond to the needs of the students by establishing specific structures to promote strong student-student and teacher-student relationships, cooperation and trust.

Each student is supported by a Pastoral Care teacher who is the first point of contact for the student and their parents.  The Pastoral Care teacher works as part of a team that includes the Year Coordinator, Pastoral Care Coordinator, College Counsellor, Assistant Principal and Principal.
